Hearing Restored!

Below is a testimony from Kylie about Bowen's hearing miracle (USA).
July 2016

When Bowen was diagnosed with congenital CMV, one of the effects we were warned about was the possibility of hearing loss. In the midst of a sea of things to watch for, hearing loss seemed to be the least of his worries. At one point, I even tried bargaining with God, telling Him that as long as He fixed the other issues, I figured we could deal with a little hearing loss. That was before I really believed that our God is bigger than CMV and that He would heal Bowen 100%. God is not a half way God. He's all in- and now, so are we!

Until this point, Bowen had continuously failed his hearing screens in his left ear. It started in the hospital. In addition to everything else we were dealing with, our brand new sweet baby boy failed his first hearing screen. It's supposed to be short and sweet- a routine screening. When the screener was taking a longer time than normal and had a look of growing concern on her face, I knew what she would say. He failed the left but she said it was probably just fluid from delivery; she would come back the next day and she was sure everything was fine. Well, long story short, it wasn't fine and he failed a few more. We were scheduled to see an audiologist after discharge. We saw him a few times and every time we were faced with the same verdict. Possible hearing loss in the left ear. We knew he could hear- he did pass the more in depth test, but only after several tries at each appointment, so to what degree was unknown.

On July 2, he was scheduled for another checkup. This one would be different for many reasons. First off, we were no longer filled with fear about his hearing or what the results would show. We have been praying and believing for Bowen's healing for some time now and that now includes his hearing (unlike before). Actually, up until a few weeks ago, I hadn't even asked for anyone else to pray for his ears because I was so focused on the other issues. Well, before the appointment, we laid hands on Bowen and commanded his ears to be open and hear normally. We knew our prayers were going to work because we fully believe in the power of our God. We also discussed, before the appointment, that no matter what the test showed, we would choose to believe the report of God and not the report of the doctor. Now, I'm a nurse and I fully believe in the power of medicine. But I do believe in the power of God even more. Dad took Bowen to his appointment while I stayed home and did some chores. I didn't feel like I needed to be there- God was in control this time! The whole time, I filled the house and my heart with praise music and continued to speak life to Bowen's hearing. Well, it worked. Not to our surprise, but to our delight, he passed!!

The doctors have said that with his diagnosis, hearing loss is a possibility for the rest of his life. But we know what God says. God healed his ears and we know that we will never have to worry about his hearing again!!

We give all the glory to God- what an amazing, mighty God we serve!
Whatever you ask in my name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ~John 14:13

(*This was written July 2, 2015. Bowen will continue to have yearly hearing checks, per his physician's recommendation. We will go to appease her, but we know what the report will say! Bowen had his checkup this July of 2016 and he passed the test on the first attempt. All glory be to GOD!)
